After experimenting with various devices and platforms, I’ve settled on OpenHAB as my go-to solution. It’s been an incredible learning experience, though not without its hurdles.
One of my recent projects involved integrating my new smart air conditioner into Hubitat. While the Alexa integration worked seamlessly, getting it into Hubitat for more advanced control was a bit of a puzzle. After some research and tinkering, I managed to link it up, and now I can control it alongside my other smart devices—what a relief! 
Another challenge I faced was with my H6008 bulb. I noticed that when switching it on using the lamp’s physical switch, it would start at 1% brightness instead of the preset level. This was a bit frustrating, but after digging into the settings, I discovered a workaround by adjusting the bulb’s default brightness profile. Now, it turns on exactly how I want it to! 
I’m also exploring the use of door and window sensors with tilt functionality. After some research, I found that while some manufacturers don’t advertise this feature, many users have successfully utilized it for enhanced security and automation. It’s been fascinating to see how these sensors can be programmed to trigger different actions based on whether the window is open or tilted. 
For anyone looking to dive into smart home automation, I highly recommend starting small and gradually expanding your setup. Whether it’s setting up a simple routine or integrating multiple devices, every step brings you closer to creating a truly connected home.
