Exploring Smart Home Automation with Philips Hue Remotes

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something really exciting I’ve been working on with my Philips Hue remotes. I’ve created a mapper automation that allows me to attach actions to the Hue remote buttons, including all four buttons (On, Dim Up, Dim Down, Off) and all six states (single/double/triple/quadruple/quintuple/long press). This has been a game-changer for me, and I’d love to hear how others are using their Hue remotes for creative automation!

What Does This Automation Do?

This mapper automation is super flexible. You can assign any action to the button presses—not just lights. For example, I’ve seen people use these remotes to launch Netflix or Disney+ on their TVs. The possibilities are endless!

Why I Made This

I realized there wasn’t an easy way in Home Assistant to map button presses on Zigbee remotes to specific actions. It started as a simple project to control lights, but as my knowledge of blueprints grew, I saw the potential to create a universal solution. I hope this helps others unlock the full potential of their Hue remotes!

How to Get Started

If you’re interested in trying this out, here’s how you can get started:

  1. Import the Blueprint: You can import the blueprint directly from the link below. It’s designed to work seamlessly with the ZHA integration.
  2. Configure the Inputs: The blueprint includes inputs for each button and press type. You can customize the actions to suit your needs.
  3. Test and Refine: Start with simple actions and gradually add more complex ones as you become comfortable.

Open your Home Assistant instance and show the blueprint import dialog with a specific blueprint pre-filled.

Why This Matters

For anyone looking to integrate smart home controls without the hassle of custom coding, this automation is a fantastic solution. It’s user-friendly and adaptable, making it accessible to both beginners and advanced users.

What’s Next?

I’m really excited to see how the community uses this blueprint. If you have any suggestions or improvements, I’d love to hear them! Let’s continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with smart home automation.

Happy automating! :rocket:
