Exploring Smart Home Automation with Vera Edge and EnOcean

Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my journey with smart home automation! I recently transitioned from a traditional setup to a more integrated system using Vera Edge and EnOcean devices. It’s been a fascinating experience, though not without its challenges.

First, I wanted to create a seamless way to control my lights and blinds using Eltako devices. After some research, I discovered the EnOcean MQTT integration, but honestly, it felt overwhelming at first. I tried following some guides but ended up more confused than ever.

The good news is, I stumbled upon a helpful GitHub repository that provided a clearer path. With some trial and error, I managed to set up a basic configuration. It’s amazing how the system can detect devices and integrate them into Home Assistant. I even set up a simple rule where my lights dim when I watch TV, enhancing the movie experience.

One thing I’m still figuring out is how to handle manual changes to device states. For instance, if someone uses the original remote to turn off the TV, my automation doesn’t always pick up on it. I’d love to hear if anyone has a reliable method to track such changes.

I’m also curious about others’ experiences with Vera Edge. Did anyone face issues after upgrading to the latest firmware? I’ve heard some reports about instability, and I’m wondering if there’s a workaround without contacting customer support.

Overall, I’m thrilled with the progress and can’t wait to explore more features. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I’d be grateful to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate the world of smart home automation. :rocket:
