Wyze Camera Connection Challenges
I recently upgraded my Wyze cameras to the V3 Pro models, hoping to enjoy the improved features and reliability. Unfortunately, I’ve been struggling with connecting these new cameras to my network. The setup process seems straightforward, but after scanning the QR code, I often get a message saying, ‘Cannot connect to network.’ I’ve tried factory resets, updating firmware, and even switching Wi-Fi channels, but the issue persists. It’s frustrating because my older Wyze Cam V2 cameras work without any problems. Has anyone else faced this with newer Wyze models? Any troubleshooting steps I might have missed?
Motion Sensors and HACS Integration
Another area I’m diving into is integrating Wyze motion sensors with Home Assistant (HA). I’ve managed to get the sensors listed in HA, but I’m hitting a snag when trying to control lights based on motion. The sensors detect motion correctly, but the corresponding lights don’t turn on unless I manually trigger them. I’ve checked the automations and services, but I can’t seem to figure out why the connection isn’t working smoothly. I know the integration works because I can enable and disable home monitoring through HA, but the light control is still elusive. Any pointers or common pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated!
HACS Custom Integration Issues
Speaking of HA, I’ve been exploring HACS (Home Assistant Community Store) to enhance my setup. I came across a custom integration for my Wyze devices, but during installation, I encountered an error message: HACS is starting up, during this time some information might be missing or incorrect. Digging into the logs, it seems the issue originates from a custom integration, specifically custom_components/hacs/base.py. I’m not entirely sure how to proceed from here. Has anyone else faced similar HACS startup issues, and if so, how did you resolve them?
Tips and Tricks
On a more positive note, I’ve found that using IFTTT with Wyze devices is a fantastic way to create custom automations without diving deep into coding. For instance, I set up my Wyze motion sensor to trigger a notification on my phone when motion is detected, even when the camera isn’t recording. It’s a simple yet effective setup that adds an extra layer of security.
I’m also experimenting with MQTT for more granular control over my devices. It’s a bit overwhelming at first, but with some research, I’ve managed to create a basic MQTT setup that allows me to monitor and control my Wyze devices remotely. If anyone has tips on optimizing MQTT for Wyze devices, I’d love to hear them!
