I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey! 
I recently set up a few Z-Wave devices around my home, including some dimmers and switches, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how seamlessly they integrate with my existing setup. However, I did run into a bit of a hiccup when trying to add new Zooz ZEN72 800LR Dimmers to my SmartThings v2 hub. The process kept getting stuck at the ‘preparing device’ stage, which was pretty frustrating. After some research and reaching out to support, I found that excluding the devices and trying again worked like a charm! 
Another area I’ve been exploring is camera automation. I recently purchased some Arlo Pro 5s cameras, and while they detect motion perfectly, I noticed that they weren’t recording to my basestation. This was a bit puzzling, but after some troubleshooting, I realized that selecting the correct camera model in the Arlo app was the key. Once I did that, everything started working smoothly! 
I’m also really excited about the potential of using automation rules to simulate presence in my home. It’s a clever way to make my place feel lived-in even when I’m away. I came across an openHAB template that does exactly that, and I’m looking forward to setting it up. It’s all about creating that perfect balance between convenience and security. 
Overall, the journey into smart home automation has been full of learning curves and rewarding experiences. I’m eager to continue exploring and discovering new ways to enhance my home’s functionality. If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing Z-Wave setups or camera integrations, I’d love to hear them!
