As a new member of the smart home community, I’ve been absolutely fascinated by the potential and versatility of these devices. From automating lighting to enhancing security, the possibilities seem endless. I wanted to share some of my experiences and insights, as well as seek advice from the community.
One of my favorite discoveries has been the Govee strip lights under my daughter’s bed. The vibrant colors and customizable settings have truly transformed her bedtime routine. It’s amazing how something so simple can create such a positive impact. I’m now considering adding more Govee products, like the tower fan and bulb lights, to other areas of my home for a cohesive and relaxing environment.
However, not everything has been smooth sailing. I recently encountered an issue with my Schlage BE469ZP locks. Despite having zwave plus repeaters in place, I’ve noticed quirky behavior where I have to click the lock/unlock buttons twice before the locks respond. This has been a bit frustrating, especially since I can’t control them through the dashboard. I’m hoping someone might have tips on how to resolve this issue without having to replace the locks.
Another area I’ve been exploring is presence detection. I’ve been using a combination of IFTTT and Tasker to toggle a virtual presence switch when I arrive or leave home. This setup has been working wonders for controlling my surveillance cameras. However, I’d love to add a delay feature so that the cameras stay on for a few minutes after I arrive, just to be extra cautious. If anyone has experience with this or knows of any apps that can help, I’d greatly appreciate the guidance!
On a lighter note, I’ve been enjoying the creative possibilities with my Govee lights. They’ve become a staple in my home, especially for creating ambiance during movie nights or relaxing evenings. The integration with music and scenes has been a delightful addition to my smart home setup.
Overall, my journey into the world of smart home technology has been both exciting and enlightening. I’m eager to continue learning and improving my setup, and I’m thankful for communities like this that foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. If anyone has any tips, tricks, or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
Cheers to the smart home enthusiasts out there! ![]()
