One of the most fascinating projects I’ve undertaken recently was setting up my old MacMini as a dedicated computer for Home Assistant. After some research, I found that while HAOS doesn’t support the onboard Wi-Fi, it does recognize and utilize the rest of the hardware quite well. The system runs smoothly, and it’s been a great way to repurpose an older device. For example, being able to set a limit like 21.5°C while still having the default maximum at 25°C would be a fantastic way to promote energy efficiency without sacrificing comfort. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between convenience and sustainability.
