Ecobee5 Compatibility and Smart Thermostat Journey
I recently upgraded my thermostat to the Ecobee5, and I’m absolutely loving the voice control feature! However, I’ve noticed that the official documentation doesn’t explicitly mention compatibility with the Ecobee4 or Ecobee5. Does this mean there are hidden issues, or is it just a matter of outdated docs? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully integrated these newer models into their setup. Zigbee Sensor Battery Life Mystery
Speaking of compatibility, I’ve been experimenting with Zigbee sensors, particularly the SmartThings Open/Close Sensor. It’s supposed to have a battery life of 17,000 hours, but mine is already showing significant drain after just a week. I’m wondering if placement plays a role—mine is pretty far from the router. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on optimizing battery life without compromising functionality?
Smart Switches and Automation Fun
On a lighter note, I’ve been having a blast setting up smart switches to control various devices around the house. I recently picked up some Moes smart switches, and they’ve been a game-changer for automating my lighting. However, I ran into an issue with the newer version not working without a connected device. I’d love to hear if anyone has a workaround or a clever hack to make these switches function without a load. Maybe a resistor trick?
