Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey of transforming my RV into a mobile smart home!
I’ve been researching different systems and devices to make this happen, and I wanted to reach out to the community for some advice and tips.I stumbled upon OpenHAB a few days ago and it’s been a game-changer. I’m planning to use Raspberry Pi 3s as the backbone of my system. I have a few sensors and devices I want to integrate, like temperature sensors, a file server, and a media server. The goal is to control everything remotely through a website, so I can monitor and adjust settings no matter where I am.One challenge I’m facing is figuring out the best way to handle DC-powered devices since the RV runs on DC power. I’ve come across some options for DC switches, but I’m not entirely sure which ones will work seamlessly with OpenHAB. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your recommendations!Another thing I’m curious about is whether there’s a reliable thermometer that can detect both inside and outside temperatures. I don’t mind drilling a hole for an outdoor sensor, so that’s not a problem. I’m also thinking about adding a battery meter to keep track of my power usage, which would be super helpful for managing my solar setup.I know this might seem like a lot, but I’m really passionate about making my RV as smart and efficient as possible. I’m hoping to learn from others who have tackled similar projects. If anyone has tips, tricks, or even just words of encouragement, I’d be thrilled to hear them!Let’s make this RV smarter than ever! ![]()
