I recently purchased a few devices from different brands, including some Z-Wave lights and a SmartThings hub. While setting everything up, I’ve noticed some interesting challenges and successes. For instance, getting my Z-Wave lights to work seamlessly with the SmartThings app has been a bit of a puzzle, but I’m making progress!
One thing I’m particularly curious about is the integration between Google Home and SmartThings. I’ve heard that with Google’s new API for conversation actions, it might be possible to have a more natural dialogue with SmartThings, like asking Google to open my garage or check the status of my thermostat. Has anyone here experimented with this? I’d love to hear about your experiences or any tips you might have!
On another note, I’ve been trying to set up some basic automations, like adjusting the lights based on sunrise and sunset times. However, I’ve encountered some issues where the rules don’t always trigger as expected. I’m wondering if this is a common problem or if there’s something specific I can do to troubleshoot it.
I’d also love to hear about how others handle device compatibility, especially when mixing devices from different brands. Do you find it challenging, or are there tools or techniques that make it easier?
