I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and it’s been an exciting journey! I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips in case anyone else is looking to set up similar systems.
Cameras and Connectivity
One of the first things I tackled was setting up my security cameras. I upgraded my home Wi-Fi to 5G, but unfortunately, my Arlo base station wasn’t connecting properly. After some troubleshooting, I realized that switching back to 2.4GHz wasn’t the solution either. I also discovered that using a wired connection for the base station provided a more stable setup.

After some research, I decided on a system that uses a Shelly Uni module. While I ran into some initial issues with AC vs. DC power, I managed to get it working by adjusting the wiring and ensuring the module was properly grounded. It’s been a game-changer for keeping an eye on deliveries and visitors!
Weather Forecast Integration
I also explored integrating a weather forecast system into my smart home setup. I was using OpenWeatherMap and found that consolidating multiple integrations into one simplified my dashboard significantly. It’s now easier to monitor weather conditions and plan my day accordingly.
