I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how everything is coming together. I recently purchased a Google Home device, and I’ve been eyeing the SmartThings ecosystem for a while now. My plan is to start small, using my own room as a testing ground before expanding throughout the house.
Here’s what I’m aiming to integrate:
- A ceiling fan controlled by a wall switch
- Lights operated by another wall switch
- A dumb 1080p Sony TV
- A Panasonic split air conditioner
- The ability to turn on my PC using Wake-On-LAN
For hardware, I’ve narrowed it down to the following:
- Samsung SmartThings Hub (F-H-ETH-001)
- Enerwave Z-Wave Plus Switch Module ZWN-RSM2
- Logitech Harmony Home Hub without a remote
My goal is to control everything individually or in groups using routines and voice commands through my Google Home or phone. I’m curious if the hardware I’ve chosen will meet my needs or if I need to switch to something else.
One thing I’m particularly excited about is the potential to add smart locks in the future. The idea of seamless entry and enhanced security is really appealing.
