As a newcomer to the world of smart home automation, I’ve been on an exciting journey exploring various devices and systems. I recently set up Home Assistant on a NUC with Proxmox, integrating my energy meters and getting InfluxDB up and running. However, I’m facing a challenge with remote access to InfluxDB, which I’m currently troubleshooting in a separate thread.
One of the most fascinating aspects of this journey has been experimenting with different devices. For instance, I’ve been impressed by the Wink Relay integration with SmartThings, which allows seamless control of relays and sensors. While the integration was originally developed for Groovy and is now obsolete due to SmartThings’ shutdown of Groovy, the open-source nature of the project is inspiring. I’m curious if anyone in the community is working on porting this to an Edge Driver.
Another highlight has been setting up outdoor plugs for my Christmas lights. I’ve been researching options and found a promising plug on Amazon, but I’m eager to hear recommendations from others who might have better suggestions.
However, not everything has been smooth sailing. I’ve encountered issues with my Arlo Pro 5S camera, which doesn’t appear in the list of available devices during setup. Despite having the latest app version, the camera model isn’t recognized, which is puzzling. I’m hoping someone in the community might have insights or solutions.
Reflecting on my experiences, I’ve learned the importance of community support and the value of sharing knowledge. Whether it’s troubleshooting device integrations or exploring new features, the journey is both challenging and rewarding. I’m excited to continue learning and contributing to this vibrant community.
If anyone has tips, tricks, or experiences to share regarding these topics, I’d be delighted to hear from you!
