Exploring Smart Home Integration: My Recent Experiences

Hi everyone, I wanted to share some of my recent experiences with integrating different smart home devices. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I hope this post can help others who are exploring similar setups.

Starting with my lighting setup, I’ve been using IKEA Trådfri bulbs with deConz. They’ve been performing well, but I noticed something peculiar recently. The bulbs keep restarting after an OTA update, which is a bit frustrating. Does anyone have insights or solutions for this? It would be great to hear from others who might have encountered the same issue.

On the media front, I’ve been experimenting with openHAB to control my Yamaha AVR and Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Setting this up has been a learning curve, but it’s rewarding to have everything integrated. I’m curious about others’ setups—do you prefer using Plex, DLNA, or another method? Any tips or best practices would be appreciated.

Another project I’ve been working on is outdoor lighting. I installed Govee Glide wall lights, and they’ve really transformed the look of my home. They’re easy to set up and provide a warm, inviting ambiance. If anyone is looking for outdoor lighting solutions, I’d highly recommend checking them out.

I also wanted to mention my experience with Shelly devices. I’ve been using Shelly Plus 2PM to control my roller shutters, and while it works well, I’ve noticed that the shutters drop slightly after stopping. I’m wondering if this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround. Any advice from the community would be helpful.

Lastly, I recently attended a FanFest event and had a blast playing the lucky capsule machine. It was a great way to connect with the community and enjoy some fun activities. If anyone else attended, I’d love to hear about your experiences too!

Overall, integrating different smart home devices has been a mix of challenges and triumphs. Each new setup teaches me something new and brings me closer to my goal of a fully connected home. I’d love to hear about your projects and experiences as well—let’s continue to learn and grow together!

Cheers,
