Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and I wanted to share my experiences with you all. I’ve been using my Alexa Echo Show as an OpenHab dashboard, which has been a fascinating journey. I started by using the MyPage skill to display OpenHab pages, but I was always frustrated by the browser menu taking up a quarter of the screen. I decided to explore alternative solutions and came across the GitHub guide for Home Assistant on Echo Show. It seemed promising, so I gave it a try.
I followed the installation steps meticulously, creating a custom skill in the Alexa Developer Console and configuring it to point to my OpenHab instance. However, I ran into a snag when the Echo Show just displayed a black screen after invoking the skill. After some digging, I realized the issue might be with the lambda/template.json file not being compatible with OpenHab. I adjusted the KIOSK_MODE setting and tweaked the lambda function, but the problem persisted.
I’m now curious if anyone else has successfully integrated OpenHab with their Echo Show using this method. Any insights or alternative approaches would be greatly appreciated! I’m determined to crack this and would love to hear from anyone who’s tackled a similar challenge.
On a lighter note, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with how my smart home setup has come together. It’s amazing how these devices can seamlessly integrate and enhance daily life. I’m looking forward to sharing more as I continue my smart home adventure!
Best regards,
