Exploring Smart Home Integration with HassOS and Intel NUC

After months of successfully running Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi, I decided to upgrade to an Intel NUC10i3 for better performance. However, the transition hasn’t been entirely smooth. I encountered issues with the Ethernet connection during the HassOS installation, where the device would disappear from the router’s DHCP table once HassOS started booting. This led me to suspect a conflict in the boot process affecting the network interface. I found a similar issue reported in the community, but the solution remains elusive. For now, I’m stuck in a loop, hoping someone can shed light on this mystery.

In the meantime, I’m exploring other smart home integrations. I recently received the COB Light Pro, and while the unboxing was exciting, I’m eager to see how it performs in my setup. I’m also curious about others’ experiences with devices like the Shelly UNI for outdoor applications. Have any of you successfully integrated such devices, and what challenges did you face?

Another area I’m delving into is energy monitoring. I noticed that my water measurements are converting to liters in the Energy Dashboard, even though my system settings are set to SI units. I’d love to keep gallons for consistency with my other metrics. Is there a workaround for this, or is it something the community is actively addressing?

Lastly, I’m experimenting with custom scripts and automations. I stumbled upon a project where someone integrated a Marantz AV receiver using the Universal Media Player and Broadlink RM Pro Plus. While the setup works for basic controls, I’m struggling with advanced features like volume control through Google Assistant. If anyone has tips or solutions, I’d be grateful!

It’s been a rollercoaster of learning and problem-solving, but each challenge brings me closer to my goal of a seamless smart home ecosystem. Let’s keep the discussions going and help each other overcome these hurdles!
