Exploring Smart Home Integration with Wyze Cam Pro and Google Assistant

I recently got my hands on the Wyze Cam Pro, and I must say, the setup was surprisingly smooth! The mini USB to USB cable connection was a bit confusing at first, but once I figured it out, the camera was up and running in no time. The image quality is impressive, and the motion detection feature is both reliable and user-friendly. I especially love how it shows exactly where the motion was detected—so meta, right?

However, I’ve encountered a small hiccup with notifications. Despite having the latest Android app and firmware, I’m not receiving any alerts, even though the clips are uploading to the cloud. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’m hopeful Wyze will resolve this soon.

Another project I’ve been working on is integrating Google Assistant with my Homey setup. The idea is to leverage Google Assistant’s voice commands to control my smart home devices managed by Homey. I followed the manual instructions, saying, ‘Ok Google, Link to Homey,’ but it didn’t recognize the command. I’ve tried resetting both devices and ensuring they’re on the same network, but no luck yet. Has anyone successfully linked these two systems? Any tips or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with creating custom scenes using my Hue sensors. It’s been a learning curve, but seeing the lights react instantly to motion is incredibly satisfying. I’m aiming to set up a nighttime routine where the lights dim gradually after sunset and turn off completely if no motion is detected. It’s all about creating a seamless and energy-efficient home environment.

If anyone has advice on troubleshooting the Wyze Cam notifications or integrating Google Assistant with Homey, I’d love to hear your insights. Happy smart home tinkering everyone!
