Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and insights with you all. 
First off, I’ve been working with Z-Wave devices, specifically the C8 controller, and I’ve run into a bit of a hiccup with the Z-Wave Long Range (LR) functionality. After some troubleshooting, I found that restoring from a backup was the key to getting things working again, though it meant losing some device configurations temporarily. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but it’s taught me the importance of regular backups! 
On the software side, I’m running HomeAssistant OS on a Proxmox VM, which has been a great setup so far. I’ve got a bunch of IKEA lamps, temperature sensors, and thermostats integrated, and while the automations are still pretty basic, I’m really excited about the potential to expand them further. 
One thing I’m curious about is how others handle the integration of multiple smart devices from different brands. Do you find it challenging to get everything working seamlessly, or are there specific tools or techniques that make the process smoother? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences! 
Another area I’ve been exploring is the use of smart thermostats. I’d love to set them all to ‘away’ mode when we’re not home, and maybe even preheat the house before we get back. If anyone has tips or tricks for automating this process, I’d be grateful for the advice!
