Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home technology lately, and it’s been an incredible journey. From setting up energy dashboards to experimenting with different smart devices, there’s always something new to discover and learn.
One of my recent projects involved integrating a Shelly EM module to monitor energy consumption. It was a bit of a puzzle at first, but once everything was configured, it started providing valuable insights into how much energy different parts of my home were using. I found that setting up the right entities in Lovelace was key to making the dashboard display the data correctly. If anyone’s struggling with similar issues, I’d recommend checking the entity configurations and ensuring the last_reset attribute is properly set!
Another area I’ve been exploring is automating my lighting setup. I recently picked up some Govee LED strips, and they’ve been a game-changer for creating different ambiance settings. While they do get warm after extended use, I’ve found that placing them strategically helps distribute the heat evenly. I’d love to hear from others about their experiences with LED strips and any creative patterns they’ve come up with!
On the automation front, I’ve been working on setting up a system to control my boiler based on temperature readings from my TRVs. It’s been a bit of a challenge, especially with the transition from Deconz to Zigbee2MQTT, but I’ve managed to get it working by carefully adjusting the conditions and triggers in my automations. If anyone’s tackling similar projects, I’d suggest starting with simple conditions and gradually adding complexity as you go.
One thing I’ve noticed is the importance of community support. Whether it’s troubleshooting JSON parsing errors or figuring out how to integrate new devices, the tips and advice from fellow enthusiasts have been invaluable. If you’re facing any issues, don’t hesitate to reach out—there’s always someone willing to help!
I’d love to hear about everyone’s recent projects and discoveries. What smart home innovations have you been exploring lately? Any tips or tricks you’d like to share? Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to inspire each other on this exciting journey!
