Exploring Smart Home Security Options

As I’ve been exploring ways to enhance my home security, I’ve come across some interesting options that I’d love to share. One of the key areas I’ve been focusing on is outdoor surveillance. I’ve been using the Arlo wireless setup for a while now, but the frequent need to charge the batteries has become a bit of a hassle. I’m now considering upgrading to a Wi-Fi camera that doesn’t require PoE, as I don’t have the necessary infrastructure set up at the moment.

I’ve been reading a lot about the TrackMix cameras and the Arlo 523/823 WA models, but I’m still not sure which one would be the best fit for my needs. The camera will be mounted on one corner of my house, and I want it to have a wide coverage area to monitor both sides of the street it’s facing. Another feature I’m interested in is the ability to integrate with my NAS for storage and possibly use some AI-driven automation, though I’m not entirely sure how that would work yet.

On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with smart lighting solutions from Govee. It’s been a fun project, especially as I prepare for the upcoming holiday season. I’ve set up some outdoor lights that I can control via my phone, and it’s been a great way to add some festive cheer to my home. I’m even thinking of creating a small light show that syncs with music, though I’m still in the early planning stages.

If anyone has any tips or recommendations for either the camera setup or the lighting project, I’d love to hear your thoughts! It’s always great to learn from others’ experiences and maybe pick up a few tricks along the way. Happy tinkering everyone! :hammer_and_wrench::sparkles:
