Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share my journey into the world of smart home technology. My partner and I have embarked on an exciting project to build a completely off-grid home in the heart of a rainforest. It’s a blend of modern tech and natural beauty, and we’re eager to integrate the latest smart home systems to make our paradise even more comfortable and sustainable.
We’ve been researching various solutions, and one of the challenges we’ve encountered is finding a seamless smart home system that works offline. After some research, we’ve decided on the ISY994iz as our hub, paired with the MobiLinc app. This setup allows us to control our INSTEON products through a standard router without needing an internet connection. It’s a solid choice, but we’re still exploring how to optimize it further.
Another area we’re focusing on is energy monitoring. We’ve come across some interesting devices like the Leviton LB115-S smart circuit breaker and the Emporia Vue energy monitor. These tools promise to give us detailed insights into our power usage, which is crucial for managing our off-grid system efficiently. However, we’re still in the early stages of setting these up and would love to hear any tips or experiences others might have.
On a lighter note, we’re also looking into some fun additions like smart cameras for wildlife monitoring and motorized blinds for those lazy mornings. The Move Motorize Blinds project on Indiegogo caught our eye, and we’re hopeful it’ll add that extra touch of convenience to our home.
We’re also in the process of filming our construction journey with HGTV, which has added an exciting layer to our project. It’s a great opportunity to showcase how smart home technology can be integrated into unique living environments.
If anyone has experience with offline smart home systems, energy monitoring, or wildlife cameras, we’d be grateful for any advice or recommendations. Let’s continue to explore and innovate together!
Best regards,
Pura Vida!
