Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey into creating a smart irrigation system using HomeKit and some DIY components. I’ve been using Homebridge for a while now, and I’ve come across this plugin called homebridge-smart-irrigation which seems perfect for integrating weather forecasts and automating my irrigation logic. However, I need some actual relays to control the valves, so I’m looking into using Sonoff switches or even an ESP32 board with a relay module. I’ve heard that HomeSpan might be a good option for directly integrating these switches into HomeKit, but I’m not entirely sure how to set it up. If anyone has experience with this or any tips, I’d love to hear them!
I’ve also been inspired by some recent projects where people use ESP32 boards with relay modules to create custom HomeKit accessories. It seems like a great way to expand my setup without relying solely on off-the-shelf products. I’m planning to follow this video to get started, but I’m open to any suggestions or alternative approaches. The goal is to have a fully automated system that waters my garden based on weather conditions and soil moisture, all controlled through my iPhone’s Home app. It’s a bit daunting, but I’m really looking forward to seeing it come together!
If anyone has successfully implemented a similar setup or has any advice on choosing the right components, please share your experiences. I’m also curious about how others handle the integration of multiple relays and ensure smooth communication with HomeKit. Let’s collaborate and make this project a success! ![]()
