Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home technology lately, and I wanted to share my experience with setting up some Zigbee sensors. It’s been quite the journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs. 
So, I recently purchased a couple of Aqara door and window sensors, along with a vibration sensor. My goal was to integrate them seamlessly into my Home Assistant setup. I’ve heard great things about Zigbee2MQTT, so I decided to give it a shot. The installation process went smoothly, but I ran into an issue where the sensors kept showing an ‘unknown’ state. At first, I was a bit puzzled—why wouldn’t they work right out of the box? After some research, I discovered that bypassing the MiHome app might have been the culprit. I decided to reset the sensors and add them to MiHome first, just to see if that would make a difference. Lo and behold, they started working perfectly in Home Assistant! It turns out that activating them through MiHome was the key step I was missing. This experience taught me the importance of thoroughly checking setup guides and community forums. Sometimes, a simple step like adding a device to a specific app first can make all the difference. I also realized how crucial it is to test each device individually to ensure they’re functioning as expected. For anyone looking to set up Zigbee devices, I’d recommend using the Zigbee2MQTT plugin. It’s incredibly user-friendly and has a vibrant community backing it up. Plus, the ability to troubleshoot and find solutions through forums like this one is invaluable.
