Exploring Smart Lighting and Camera Integration Challenges

Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and camera integration lately, and I thought I’d share some of my experiences and questions with you all.

First off, I’ve been experimenting with grouping my Sonos speakers to ensure they all play in sync. While the idea sounds straightforward, I’ve noticed a slight delay between the speakers, which is a bit frustrating. I remember reading a few years back that there wasn’t a seamless way to group them, but I’m curious if anything has changed since then. Has anyone found a more elegant solution to this? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

On the camera front, I’ve been using several ONVIF cameras for surveillance, and while they work, the live stream has a noticeable lag—anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds. This delay isn’t just inconvenient; it also causes my Raspberry Pi to overheat, which is a bit concerning. I’m hoping there might be a way to reduce this lag or at least minimize the strain on my system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Another thing I’ve been pondering is the integration of Z-Wave devices. I recently upgraded my Z-Wave JS 2 MQTT setup, and I’m wondering if it’s safe to perform updates directly through the add-on interface. I’d hate to run into any issues, so any advice on best practices here would be invaluable.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the use of third-party temperature sensors with my Tado heating system. While I’d love to add more sensors for better room-by-room monitoring, I’m not sure which ones are compatible. If anyone has experience with this or knows of reliable third-party options, I’d be thrilled to hear about them.

Overall, it’s been a fascinating journey, and I’m excited to see how these technologies continue to evolve. Thanks in advance for your insights and experiences!
