Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum and I’m excited to share my recent journey into the world of smart home automation. I’ve been using Google Nest devices for entertainment and IKEA Trådfri for lighting, but I’m now looking to expand my setup with energy monitoring and smart switches.
One of my main goals is to monitor the air quality in my home. I have six rooms, so I need a reliable and affordable solution. I’ve heard great things about the Airthings Wave Plus and Wyze Air Monitor, but I’m curious about others’ experiences. Are there any hidden costs or setup challenges I should be aware of?
For energy monitoring, I want to track my consumption and control dumb devices like lamps and heaters. I’ve come across Shelly 1 PM Mini and Eversense Smart Plugs, but I’m not sure which would be better for my needs. I’m particularly interested in devices that are easy to install and integrate with my existing ecosystem.
Another area I’m exploring is smart lighting design. I recently tried setting up some automations but ran into issues with apps conflicting or not saving properly. Does anyone have tips on organizing automations to avoid this kind of frustration?
Lastly, I’m curious about the integration of smart devices with Google Assistant. I’ve heard that some devices, like the Sensibo Smart Thermostat, offer a dedicated ‘Power’ control section in the Google Home app. I’m wondering how this can be replicated for other devices or if there are any workarounds for devices that don’t natively support this feature.
I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! Let’s make my home smarter together. ![]()
