Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and motion sensors lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. ![]()
First off, I recently set up a dimmer in my hallway that’s paired with a motion sensor. It’s been a game-changer for keeping things illuminated without needing to flip a switch every time. But here’s where I’m hitting a snag: I’d love to adjust the brightness based on the time of day. For instance, during late-night trips to check on the kids, I’d prefer a softer glow rather than the full 100% brightness that’s currently set. Does anyone know if there’s a way to automate this without having to manually adjust the settings each time? I’m a developer, so if it involves creating a smart app, I’m all ears! ![]()

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with Govee light strips and have noticed something a bit puzzling. Whenever my TV goes into standby mode, the lights seem to randomly turn themselves on. It’s pretty frustrating, especially since I’ve tried all three USB ports on the TV to no avail. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or perhaps has a workaround? ![]()
I’d also love to hear about your experiences with motion sensors. I’ve got a ST motion detector that I’ve successfully linked to turn on a light, but turning it off has been a hurdle. I understand that motion detectors don’t typically send a reset signal, but is there a clever way to automate the light turning off after a period of inactivity? Maybe through some smart app or rule setup? ![]()
Lastly, I’ve been exploring the idea of integrating multiple brands into my smart home setup. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but the potential for a seamless experience is really exciting. If anyone has tips on making different devices work harmoniously, I’d be thrilled to hear them! ![]()
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your insights and experiences! Let’s keep the smart home revolution rolling! ![]()
