Exploring Smart Lighting Automation and DIY Projects

As someone who has been diving into the world of smart lighting and automation, I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips that might help others on their journey. I recently set up a DIY pill dispenser project using MQTT buttons, which has been a fun way to integrate technology into daily routines. However, I encountered some issues with multiple entities appearing and being marked as ‘unavailable’. After some troubleshooting, I realized it was a configuration error in the MQTT setup. Fixing the payload and command topics resolved the ghost entities, and now everything works smoothly!

Another project I’ve been working on involves automating my bathroom lights using a Coolcam motion sensor and Philips Hue spotlights. Initially, the lights had a delay and didn’t turn on smoothly. After adjusting the automation settings in Reactor, I managed to achieve a seamless transition. It’s amazing how a bit of tweaking can make such a difference in user experience.

For those looking to integrate smart lighting, I highly recommend exploring MQTT configurations and ensuring all entities are properly defined. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for support—it’s a fantastic resource for troubleshooting and sharing ideas. Happy automating! :rocket:
