Exploring Smart Lighting Automation and Temperature Sensing

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an incredible journey! One area I’ve been particularly focused on is smart lighting and how to make it work seamlessly with my daily routines. I’ve been experimenting with Philips Hue lights and trying to set up some rules using Blockly. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m starting to get the hang of it.

One thing I’ve noticed is that sometimes the state of an item doesn’t update immediately in a rule. For example, I set up a rule to check if a light is on or off based on its HSB values, but occasionally, the state doesn’t reflect the current status right away. It’s a bit frustrating, but I’ve found that adding a small delay in the rule helps ensure the state is accurate before proceeding. It’s all about those little tweaks to make everything run smoothly!

Another area I’ve been exploring is temperature sensing. I’ve been looking for reliable sensors that stay connected and provide accurate readings. After some research and recommendations from the community, I’ve been really impressed with the DS18B20 sensors. They’re network stable and have been giving me consistent readings. If anyone is looking for a good temperature sensor, I’d highly recommend giving these a try!

I’ve also been enjoying the community aspect of this forum. It’s amazing how helpful everyone is, and I’ve learned so much from others’ experiences and tips. For instance, someone mentioned using a Shelly EM to monitor pool water flow, which I found really innovative. It makes me think about all the other creative ways these devices can be used around the house.

Overall, my journey with smart home automation has been filled with both challenges and triumphs. It’s incredible how technology can enhance our daily lives, making things more convenient and connected. I’m excited to see what other innovations come down the line and how I can continue to integrate them into my smart home setup. If anyone has tips or experiences to share, I’d love to hear about them!
