I’ve been really enjoying the convenience of scheduling my exterior lights to turn on and off at sunset and sunrise using SmartLighting. It’s been a great way to ensure my yard is well-lit without having to manually adjust the lights every day. However, I recently ran into an interesting challenge when I added a second exterior light switch to the same schedule.
Initially, everything worked perfectly with a single light, but after adding the second one, I noticed that one or both lights would often fail to turn on or off as scheduled. It was completely inconsistent, which was frustrating. I tried separating them into individual schedules, but the issue persisted.
After some research and experimentation, I discovered that the SmartLighting app might have some limitations when controlling multiple switches from a single schedule. To work around this, I decided to use a scene or virtual switch to control both lights simultaneously. This approach has been much more reliable so far.
I’m curious if others have experienced similar issues or if there are best practices for managing multiple lights through SmartLighting. It would be great to hear if there’s a more efficient way to handle this without resorting to separate schedules or scenes.
Overall, I’m still impressed with what SmartLighting can do, and I’m excited to continue exploring its capabilities for my home automation setup. It’s just a matter of finding the right configuration to make everything work seamlessly together.
