Exploring Smart Lighting Automation with GE Toggle Switches

Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to share my recent journey into the world of smart lighting automation with my new SmartThings hub and GE toggle switches. Setting up my outdoor lights has been an exciting adventure, and I’m eager to dive deeper into the possibilities offered by SmartApps like Rule Machine.

One thing I’m currently puzzling over is the ‘Between Two Times’ feature in Rule Machine. I want my outdoor lights to turn on at 4:50 AM when the lux level drops below 50. I’ve set the start time to 4:50 AM and the end time to -30 sunrise, but I’m not entirely sure how this interval works. Does it trigger the light at 4:50 AM regardless of the sunrise time, or does it activate anytime within that window? I’m hoping someone with more experience can shed some light on this!

Another aspect I’m exploring is automating my morning routine. I’ve heard that routines can be a game-changer, but I’m curious about how reliable they are. I’ve set up a few routines to trigger my coffee maker and adjust the thermostat, but I’m wondering if there are more creative ways to enhance my daily routine with smart home technology.

I’m also thinking about integrating my smart lights with motion sensors for added convenience. Imagine walking into the garage in the middle of the night and having the lights automatically turn on without needing to fumble for a switch. It would be fantastic to set this up, but I’m not entirely sure how to configure the sensors and switches to work seamlessly together.

Overall, I’m loving the flexibility and customization that smart lighting offers. It’s amazing how a few switches and sensors can transform the way I interact with my home. I’m looking forward to learning more and discovering new ways to make my home smarter and more efficient. Thanks to everyone in the community for sharing their knowledge and experiences—it truly makes this journey more enjoyable!

Best regards,
