Exploring Smart Lighting Automation with Govee and Homey

I’ve recently dipped my toes into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! :rocket: I decided to start with lighting automation, and I’ve been using Govee RGBWW LED strips and a Homey Pro to create a cozy and dynamic atmosphere in my living room. Here’s what I’ve learned and where I’m seeking some advice from the community. Initial Setup and Success Setting up the Govee strips was a breeze. I followed the instructions to connect them via Bluetooth, and they paired seamlessly with my smartphone. The Govee app is user-friendly, and I was up and running in minutes. I love how I can adjust the color temperature and brightness with ease, and the RGB effects add a nice touch for movie nights or parties. I also integrated the Govee strips with Homey using the IFTTT applet, which allows me to control them through voice commands with my Google Home Mini. It’s incredibly convenient to say, “Hey Google, turn on the living room lights to warm white,” and have it happen instantly. Challenges and Questions However, I’m running into a couple of issues that I’d love to get some help with: 1. Dimming Functionality I noticed that when I use the wall switch to dim the lights, both the RGB and warm white channels dim simultaneously. This isn’t ideal because I’d prefer to only dim the warm white channel when using the physical switch. Is there a way to configure this through the Homey app or IFTTT? I’ve explored the settings a bit but haven’t found a clear solution yet. 2. Automation Delays I set up an automation flow where the lights turn on when my phone detects I’m home. While the flow works, there’s a noticeable delay of about six seconds between the trigger and the action. I’ve checked the logs, and it seems the delay is consistent. Does anyone have tips on how to reduce this delay? I’m wondering if it’s related to the processing load on Homey or if there’s a setting I’m missing. Future Goals Looking ahead, I’d love to expand my setup by adding motion sensors and maybe even integrating my HVAC system for a more seamless experience. But for now, I’m focused on perfecting my lighting automation. Community Feedback I’m curious to hear how others have tackled similar challenges. Have you managed to configure dimming to target specific channels? How do you ensure your automations run smoothly without delays? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help and advice! Let’s make my smart home even smarter together! :hugs:
