I wanted something that could adapt to different moods and times of day without needing constant manual adjustments. After some research and trial and error, I managed to create a rule that dims the lights gradually in the evening, creating a cozy ambiance as it gets darker outside. It’s such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in how I feel at the end of the day. I’ve also been experimenting with motion sensors to control outdoor lights. The idea is to have them turn on automatically when someone approaches the front door, but I ran into an issue where the lights would sometimes turn back on if there was any movement after I manually turned them off. I’d love to hear if anyone has a solution for this—maybe a way to ‘pause’ the rule temporarily when I override it manually. Another thing I’ve been curious about is integrating smart lighting with other devices like my thermostat. I’d love to create a scenario where the lights adjust based on the temperature settings, but I’m not entirely sure where to start with that. Any pointers or examples would be greatly appreciated! On a lighter note, I’ve also been playing around with color-changing LED strips. They’re so much fun to customize, and I’ve even set up a routine where they change colors based on the weather forecast. It’s a silly little feature, but it adds a touch of personality to my home. Overall, I’m really enjoying how customizable and versatile Hubitat is. It’s amazing how a few well-thought-out rules can transform your living space into something truly smart and personalized.
