I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! I recently set up two Hue outdoor lights, and I’m trying to create a system where they adjust based on motion detection. Here’s what I’ve been working on:
I’ve configured the lights to stay at 50% brightness as a default setting. The goal is to have them increase to 100% when motion is detected on my Hue outdoor motion sensor. That part works like a charm! However, I’m running into an issue with the follow-up action. I want the lights to dim back to 50% after 5 minutes of inactivity, but I can’t seem to find an option in my ST v2 hub that allows me to do this without turning them off entirely.
I’ve tried a few different approaches, including creating rules and using timers, but nothing seems to stick. It’s frustrating because the first half of the automation works perfectly, but the second half just doesn’t want to cooperate. I’m wondering if there’s a workaround or a different setting I haven’t discovered yet.
If anyone has experience with similar setups or knows of a way to adjust the dimmer level after a delay, I’d be incredibly grateful for your insights! Let’s keep the conversation going and see if we can crack this together. ![]()
