Exploring Smart Lighting Automation with Pause Functionality

I’ve set up a smart lighting automation in my garage that turns on the lights when the door opens. It’s been working perfectly, but during the summer, I’ve noticed an issue. When I leave the garage door open for extended periods, such as when entertaining guests or working on outdoor projects, the lights stay on unnecessarily. This isn’t ideal, especially when I’m trying to save energy and reduce my electricity bill.

I’ve explored a few solutions, like using the Smart Weather app and illuminance settings, but they haven’t worked well, especially during low-light conditions. Timing options could be a solution, but I’d have to adjust them regularly, which is inconvenient.

A pause or snooze feature would be incredibly useful. It would allow me to temporarily disable the automation without having to delete and recreate it each time. This would be especially helpful during gatherings or when I’m working on projects that require the garage door to stay open for extended periods.

I’m curious if others have faced similar challenges and how they’ve resolved them. Has anyone successfully implemented a pause feature for their smart lighting automation? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips or tricks you’ve discovered. Let’s explore how we can make our smart homes even smarter and more adaptable to our needs!
