Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation with Hubitat and it’s been an exciting journey. I’ve managed to set up some basic automations using motion and occupancy sensors, but I’m now looking to take it to the next level with more sophisticated rules, particularly around lighting automation in my master bedroom.
I’ve been using Eve and Ecobee sensors paired with HomeKit, and I’ve mirrored their states into Hubitat using a virtual presence sensor. This setup has worked well for my Rule Machine automation, where the lights turn off 30 minutes after the sensor reports vacancy. However, I’m now trying to move this functionality into the Room Lighting app for better scalability and integration with other features.
The challenge I’m facing is that the Room Lighting app doesn’t seem to recognize the virtual presence sensor as a motion sensor, which is required to trigger the automatic lights-off functionality after a period of inactivity. I’ve tried using a virtual motion sensor instead, but I can’t expose it to HomeKit, which is crucial for my setup.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or found a workaround? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have for integrating virtual presence sensors with Room Lighting. If there’s a different approach or a community driver that could help, I’d be grateful for the insight!
Looking forward to your thoughts and hoping to crack this puzzle soon. Thanks in advance for your help!
