Hi all, I recently upgraded my home lighting system with Wyze smart bulbs and integrated them with SmartThings for enhanced automation. It’s been a fantastic journey, but I encountered a few bumps along the way that I thought I’d share and discuss with the community.Initially, I was thrilled with the Wyze bulbs’ performance and their seamless integration with Google Fit for health monitoring. However, I noticed discrepancies in heart rate data between Wyze and Google Fit, particularly in min/max values. This made me wonder if Wyze is reporting data infrequently or if there’s a resolution mismatch. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you resolve it?Moving on to SmartThings, I’ve been using the Smart Lighting app to automate my kitchen lights. The setup was straightforward—linking four switches to turn on/off simultaneously. However, I noticed that the app runs every few minutes, even when the lights are off, which is a bit concerning. It constantly updates the status, which I assume is to maintain synchronization. I’m curious if there’s a way to optimize this to prevent unnecessary triggers and reduce system load. One feature I’m particularly excited about is the ability to adjust light intensity based on sunrise and sunset times. For instance, during the day, the kitchen lights are set to 40% brightness, and at night, they dim to 10%. This not only enhances energy efficiency but also creates a comfortable ambiance. I’m considering expanding this setup to other areas of my home, like the bathroom and hallway, but I want to ensure the system remains responsive and reliable.I also explored using Node-RED for more advanced automation, aiming to trigger lights based on motion sensors and adjust brightness according to the time of day. While I managed to create a basic flow, I’m looking for ways to streamline the process and reduce the number of flows needed. Any tips or best practices would be greatly appreciated!Lastly, I want to highlight the importance of consistent DST handling in SmartThings. Ensuring that automation triggers align with daylight savings changes is crucial for seamless operation. I’ve heard mixed experiences, so I’m eager to learn how others maintain accurate scheduling.Overall, my experience with Wyze and SmartThings has been overwhelmingly positive, offering a versatile and customizable smart lighting solution. I’m excited to continue exploring the possibilities and hope to gain some insights from the community to further enhance my setup. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts and suggestions!
