Hi all, I’ve been trying to set up a smart lighting automation using a Xiaomi button to toggle a GE Z-Wave switch. While the setup seems straightforward, I’ve encountered some unexpected behavior that I’m hoping to resolve. Here’s what’s been happening:
When I press the Xiaomi button, the switch turns on as intended. However, if I manually turn off the switch or use the SmartThings app to do so, pressing the button again doesn’t toggle the switch back on. It seems like the automation is maintaining some sort of state information, which isn’t ideal for a simple toggle function.
For example:
- Press button: switch turns on
- Turn off switch manually or via app: switch turns off
- Press button again: automation attempts to turn switch off, but nothing happens
I’m wondering if there’s a way to configure the automation so that it truly acts as a toggle, without maintaining any state information. Maybe there’s a setting or a different approach that I’m missing. I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered this issue or has a workaround.
On a positive note, I’m really impressed with the potential of smart lighting automation. It’s amazing how these devices can work together to create a seamless experience. I’m just hoping to iron out this little kink to make everything work smoothly!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or insights you might have. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot these cool smart home setups! ![]()
