Exploring Smart Lighting Automation with Zigbee and Ezlo SoftHub

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and insights with the community. Recently, I installed the new Ezlo SoftHub on my Raspberry Pi, which has been a game-changer for managing my Z-Wave devices. It’s amazing how seamless the integration is, and I’m excited to see how it evolves with Zigbee support in the future!

One of my favorite projects has been setting up Zigbee dimmers to create a more ambient lighting experience. I’ve been using the Hue/Zigbee integration with a wall switch module, and it’s been working beautifully. The ability to hold the switch to dim up or down is such a smooth user experience. I’ve also been experimenting with automating my dimmers to adjust based on time or motion sensors, which has really enhanced my home’s comfort.

However, I’ve come across a few challenges along the way. For instance, I’m still trying to figure out how to automatically set my dimmers to a specific brightness at certain times of the day. I’ve tried using scenes and services, but it feels a bit clunky. If anyone has tips or tricks for making this process smoother, I’d love to hear them!

Another thing I’m curious about is whether others have encountered issues with dimmer misrepresentation. I’ve noticed that some of my dimmers show 100% brightness even when they’re turned off, which can be a bit confusing. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of exploring and customizing my smart home setup. It’s incredible how much these devices can enhance our daily lives when configured just right. I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have for optimizing smart lighting automation!
