Exploring Smart Lighting Automation with Zigbee Switches

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up smart lighting automation in my home. It’s been a fun journey, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or tips!

I’ve got a hallway light controlled by three traditional switches, which I wanted to modernize. After some research, I decided to go with BSEED Zigbee switches. The idea was to replace all three switches and retain the current functionality. I found out that I would need to connect one switch directly to the lamp and wire the other two to Neutral and Live. Then, I’d create an automation in Home Assistant that toggles all three switches whenever one is pressed.

Luckily, I had neutral wires in all the switch housings, so connecting the smart switches wasn’t too bad. I’ll admit, I was a bit nervous about getting the wiring right, but with some careful planning and online guides, it went smoothly. The setup has been working perfectly for the past week, and it’s amazing how seamless the automation is.

I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with similar setups or if there are alternative approaches that might be even more efficient. Also, if anyone has tips on optimizing automations in Home Assistant, I’d be grateful to hear them!

It’s incredible how much smarter my home feels with these small adjustments. The ability to control the lights from any switch, combined with the automation, has made my daily routine so much more convenient. I can’t wait to tackle my next smart home project!

Cheers,
