Exploring Smart Lighting Compatibility and Scheduling Solutions

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening journey! :rocket: I’ve been using Philips Hue bulbs with my Zigbee setup, and they’ve been performing beautifully. However, I’ve come across a few challenges that I thought I’d share and see if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has some tips to offer.

One of the things I’ve been experimenting with is creating different lighting schedules for various rooms. For instance, I’d love to have a guest schedule where the guest bedroom and dining room adjust their lighting based on occupancy or time of day. I’ve also been thinking about integrating geofencing to control heating schedules more efficiently. Imagine if the system could detect when I’m on my way home and adjust the temperature accordingly—now that would be convenience at its finest! :sun_with_face:

Another area I’ve been exploring is the direct pairing feature in my Zigbee setup. I absolutely love how my Hue dimmer switches can control the lights even if the hub goes down. It’s such a reassuring backup system. I’m curious to know if other platforms like Hubitat offer similar functionality. If they do, that would be a game-changer for my setup!

On the topic of scheduling, I’ve been thinking about how to make my smart lighting more dynamic. For example, having the ability to set different scenes for different times of the day or specific events. I’ve also been looking into how to handle multiple requests when activating scenes, as I’ve noticed occasional delays or flickering lights when too many devices are triggered at once. It seems like the deCONZ REST API might be struggling with the load, but I’m not entirely sure. Any insights or debugging tips would be greatly appreciated! :mag:

Lastly, I’ve been exploring the integration of third-party devices into my ecosystem. I’m particularly interested in finding compatible sensors, thermometers, and motorized blinds that work seamlessly with my SmartThings hub. I’ve heard great things about Orvibo and Xiaomi devices, but I’m not entirely sure about their compatibility. If anyone has firsthand experience or recommendations, I’d be thrilled to hear about it! :hugs:

Overall, it’s been an exciting journey filled with learning and discovery. I’m eager to hear how others have tackled similar challenges and what innovative solutions they’ve come up with. Let’s keep the ideas flowing! :bulb:
