I’ve been experimenting with different color schemes and automation rules, and it’s been a blast! One thing I’ve been really curious about is the ability to customize each edge light on my hexagonal light fixture. I came across some discussions about using MQTT to control individual lights, which got me thinking about how I could achieve similar results with my setup. I’ve been using Home Assistant with Zigbee2MQTT, and it’s been a great platform for experimenting. I decided to start simple by setting up a basic automation to change the color of the lights based on the time of day. Using the built-in scheduler, I created a routine where the lights transition from warm whites in the morning to cooler tones in the evening. It’s such a subtle change, but it makes a big difference in how the space feels throughout the day. Another thing I’ve been exploring is integrating my lighting with music. I’ve heard about projects where lights sync with the beat of a song, and I thought it would be fun to try something similar. I ended up using a combination of MQTT topics and some custom scripts to map different music genres to specific color patterns. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s been a great learning experience.
