Exploring Smart Lighting Integration with Fibaro Dimmers

I’m currently in the process of renovating my home and have been exploring ways to integrate smart lighting with traditional switches. After some research, I decided to go with Ikea Tradfri smart bulbs for their reliability and compatibility with my Homey hub. However, I also wanted to provide visitors with a more conventional control option, which led me to purchase Fibaro Dimmer 2 units.

Initially, I faced some challenges when connecting the dimmers directly to the bulbs, as it resulted in two dimmers operating in tandem, which wasn’t ideal. After some troubleshooting and consulting online forums, I realized that wiring the lights ‘always on’ and using the Fibaro Dimmer 2 in conjunction with momentary switches was the way to go. This setup allows me to control different groups of lights with various dim levels assigned to single, double, or triple clicks.

While I haven’t fully implemented this yet, the potential for creating a seamless lighting experience is exciting. I’m particularly interested in how this setup will integrate with my existing smart home ecosystem and whether it will offer the flexibility I’m hoping for. If anyone has experience with similar configurations or tips to share, I’d love to hear about them!

This project has been a great learning experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together. It’s amazing how combining traditional and smart technologies can enhance home automation capabilities.
