Exploring Smart Lighting Integration with Google Assistant and Amazon Echo

As a homeowner with a mix of smart devices, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting integration. My setup includes a custom-built ESP8266 controlling addressable LEDs, and I’ve been using both Google Assistant and Amazon Echo for voice commands. While Google Assistant has been a breeze to work with—allowing me to set colors like blue with ease—Alexa has been a bit of a puzzle.

I’ve configured my device with the Hue emulation, but Alexa only responds to on/off and dim commands, despite my best efforts to enable color capabilities. The device tag and rules are set up correctly, but the issue persists. It’s frustrating because I’d love to have consistent control across all my devices, regardless of the platform.

I’ve tried tweaking the tags, adjusting the rules, and even reaching out to forums for advice, but nothing seems to click. It’s a shame because the potential for seamless integration is there, but the execution is falling short. I’m hopeful that with some more tinkering or a breakthrough in the forums, I’ll be able to get Alexa to recognize the full range of my LED setup.

In the meantime, I’m exploring alternative solutions and keeping my fingers crossed for a fix. If anyone has successfully integrated a similar setup, I’d love to hear about your experiences and any tips you might have!
