Exploring Smart Lighting Integration with Govee and ESPHome

I’ve recently been diving into the world of smart lighting, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! :rocket: I’ve been experimenting with both Govee and ESPHome, and I thought I’d share my experiences and some tips for anyone looking to integrate these into their smart home setup.First off, I purchased the Govee Smart Tower Fan and their new outdoor string lights. The setup was surprisingly straightforward, and the app integration with Home Assistant has been seamless. The remote control for the tower fan is a nice touch, and the app provides a good range of customization options. However, I did notice that the latest firmware update isn’t yet available on my devices—hoping that gets rolled out soon! :iphone:On the ESPHome front, I’ve been working on a project to control some addressable LEDs behind my TV. The goal is to have them turn on from the middle out when the movie starts and then dim off in the same manner. I’ve got the basic setup working with a Wemos D1 Mini, but I’m still tweaking the timing and smoothness of the effect. If anyone has experience with similar effects using ESPHome, I’d love to hear your tips! :bulb:One thing I’ve discovered is the importance of proper GPIO pin allocation when flashing ESPHome onto devices. I tried a few configurations before landing on the right setup for my Brilliant Smart WiFi A60 Globe. The process involved some trial and error, but seeing the light respond perfectly to Home Assistant commands was worth it! :star2:I also wanted to mention the community support I’ve received. When I ran into issues with Node-Red and the RFXCOM extension, the forums were incredibly helpful. It’s amazing how a community can come together to troubleshoot and share solutions. If anyone else is struggling with similar issues, don’t hesitate to reach out—there’s always someone willing to help! :handshake:Lastly, I’m curious to hear about others’ experiences with smart lighting. Have you tried integrating different brands or creating unique effects? I’m always on the lookout for new ideas and would love to hear what you’ve done with your setups! :speech_balloon:
