Exploring Smart Lighting Integration with Hue and Z-Wave

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts with the community. As someone who’s been using a mix of Hue and Z-Wave devices, I’ve noticed some interesting opportunities and challenges when it comes to integrating these systems.

First, let me talk about my setup. I’ve got a Hue V1 hub controlling a dining room light, and I’ve recently picked up some Hue LED lights to replace my old incandescent bulbs. The transition has been smooth in terms of brightness and color accuracy, but I ran into an issue with my GE Z-Wave dimmer. It turns out the dimmer wasn’t compatible with the LEDs, causing some buzzing and flickering. After some research, I decided to remove the Z-Wave switch and replace it with a standard non-Z-Wave switch. Now, I’m using the Hue lights to control another set of lights in my china cabinet. It’s working perfectly, and I love how seamless the integration is!

Another thing I’ve been considering is upgrading my dimmer to an LED-compatible Leviton VRS15-1LZ switch. I’m curious if this would offer better compatibility and smoother transitions compared to the Hue system. I’d love to hear others’ experiences with similar setups.

On a different note, I’ve been impressed with Govee’s customer support. Earlier this year, some of my outdoor Govee products failed, and while they were out of warranty, Govee still stepped up and replaced one of them. It’s a great example of excellent customer service in the smart home space.

If anyone has tips or tricks for integrating different lighting systems, or experiences with similar setups, I’d love to hear about them! The more we share, the more we can optimize our smart homes together. Cheers to the smart home enthusiasts out there! :rocket:
