Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent journey into integrating Philips Hue scenes with Mycroft in OpenHAB. As an openHAB enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover how seamlessly this setup works, especially with voice commands. I’ve documented my process below, hoping it can inspire others who are exploring similar integrations.
A Touch of Magic in the Bedroom
I started by experimenting with my bedroom lights. Using the Hue scenes, I created three distinct modes: ‘Relax’, ‘Night’, and ‘Reading’. Each scene adjusts the color temperature and brightness to suit different activities. The best part? I can now ask Mycroft to switch between these scenes effortlessly. For instance, saying, Hey Mycroft, turn on the relax lights instantly transforms the room into a cozy ambiance perfect for unwinding after a long day.
The Living Room Transformation
Extending this concept to the living room, I grouped all the lights into a single hue group. This allowed me to create a unified scene system where I can adjust the brightness, color, and temperature with just a voice command. The integration with Mycroft means I can now control the lighting from anywhere in the room without fumbling for switches. It’s like having a personal lighting assistant at my beck and call!
The Technical Setup
