I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey!
I started with IFTTT, setting up a few routines to control my Hue lights. The idea was to have my lights flash when my Ring Doorbell detects motion—perfect for greeting visitors or the Amazon delivery guy! But here’s the catch: the delays were frustrating. Sometimes, it took up to 3 minutes for the lights to respond. That’s way too slow for my liking!
I decided to explore other options, and that’s when I stumbled upon SmartThings. The integration seemed promising, but I quickly realized that IFTTT wasn’t flexible enough for my needs. I wanted to target specific rooms or bulbs, not just one or all of them. Imagine being able to flash the lights in my office and my wife’s office in red when the Ring detects motion—that’s the setup I’m aiming for!
I’m now experimenting with Core to see if it can handle this better. The goal is to have a seamless, delay-free experience. If anyone has tips or tricks for achieving this, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
On another note, I’ve also been exploring the integration of my Wyze Cam firmware. After a recent update, the image quality took a nosedive—daytime shots were washed out, and night vision turned everything into stars. It was quite the disappointment. I’m curious if others have faced similar issues or found solutions. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
