Exploring Smart Lighting Integration with TP-Link Deco M9+

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my smart lighting setup with my TP-Link Deco M9+ mesh Wi-Fi system, and I wanted to share my experiences and insights with the community. As someone who loves experimenting with different smart home devices, I’ve been curious about the compatibility of the Hue Essentials App with the Zigbee Hub built into the TP-Link Deco M9+ units. My goal is to control over 150 GLEDOPTO RGB+CCT lamps and Kasa Wi-Fi Switches and Dimmers seamlessly across my home.

Initially, I was unsure whether I would need additional Hue Hubs or if the built-in Zigbee support in the TP-Link Deco M9+ units would suffice. After some research and experimentation, I found that the Hue Essentials App does work with the Zigbee Hub in the TP-Link Deco M9+, which is a huge relief! This means I can avoid the hassle and cost of adding more hubs to my setup.

One of the most exciting aspects of this integration is the ability to use multiple iPads as controllers throughout my home. I’ve set up iPads in the Living Room, Kitchen, Den, Master Bedroom, and even at the Front Door, each acting as a wall station controller. Running the Hue Essentials App on these iPads allows me to control the entire house from any room, which is incredibly convenient. I’ve also been impressed with how smoothly the app runs across multiple devices without any lag or connectivity issues.

This setup has completely transformed how I interact with my smart lighting system. Being able to adjust the ambiance of each room individually or create whole-house scenes with just a few taps on my iPad has made my home feel even more connected and personalized. It’s also been great to see how the GLEDOPTO lamps respond so quickly to the app’s commands, ensuring a seamless user experience.

I’d love to hear from others who have integrated their TP-Link Deco systems with Hue or other Zigbee devices. What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them? Any tips or tricks for optimizing performance would be greatly appreciated!

Overall, I’m thrilled with how this integration has worked out. It’s been a fantastic way to enhance the functionality of my smart home without complicating the setup. If you’re considering a similar project, I highly recommend exploring the compatibility of your existing hardware with Zigbee devices—it might save you time and money in the long run. Happy tinkering!
