I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately, and it’s been an exciting journey!

Let’s start with my recent discovery regarding Amazon Alexa’s music playback feature. I noticed that after playing a song, Alexa continued to play music, which was unexpected. It’s a bit concerning since it’s new behavior, but I’m hopeful it’s just a temporary glitch. I’ll keep an eye on it and update if there’s a resolution.
Now, onto smart lighting! I’ve been experimenting with various brands, and I must say, IKEA’s Dirigera hub has been a game-changer for me. The availability of Matter-compatible devices is a huge plus, and the integration with SmartThings has been seamless. I’ve been using their 1056 lumen white spectrum bulbs, and they’ve exceeded my expectations in terms of brightness and color accuracy. However, I’m still on the hunt for the perfect smart bulbs that offer both reliability and longevity. From my research, brands like LIFX and IKEA seem to be leading the pack, but I’d love to hear others’ experiences!
Another topic I’d like to touch on is the integration of smart devices with voice assistants. I recently set up my Echo Show to display live feeds from my Blink cameras, and it’s been incredibly convenient. However, I noticed that the live feed no longer appears in the Blink app after linking it to the Echo Show. I’d love to know if others have encountered this issue or found a workaround. It would be fantastic to have both functionalities without compromising one.
For those looking to expand their smart home setup, I’d recommend exploring devices like the Zooz ZEN30. While it’s currently limited to on/off functionality for fans, I’m hopeful that future iterations will include features like fan speed control. It’s a solid foundation, and the firmware updates have been impressive so far.
