Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and thoughts. First off, I recently picked up the LiFX White bulbs, and they’ve been a fantastic addition to my setup. The fact that they’re priced so affordably at $9.99 makes them a no-brainer for anyone looking to dip their toes into smart lighting without breaking the bank. Plus, the compatibility with HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Home is a huge plus for me since I have a mixed ecosystem.
On another note, I’ve been absolutely blown away by the Govee lights I’ve been experimenting with. Their ability to sync with music is nothing short of magical. I’ve been using them to create these amazing light shows while listening to my favorite tunes. It’s such a great way to enhance the mood in my space. I’ve even started sharing some of my setups on social media, and people have been really intrigued by how seamlessly the lights follow the music.
I also wanted to touch on something a bit more technical. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get my Sonos Arc to play specific audio files through my smart home setup. I’ve had success with my Google Nest devices, but the Sonos integration has been a bit tricky. I’ve been using the media_player.play_media service, but it doesn’t seem to trigger the Sonos the same way it does with the Nest devices. If anyone has any insights or workarounds, I’d be super grateful!
Lastly, I’ve been brainstorming some DIY projects, and I thought I’d run an idea by you all. I’m thinking of creating a custom light strip for my entertainment area using WS2812B LEDs. The idea is to have them controlled via Home Assistant and synced with my music. It’s still in the planning phase, but I’m really excited about the possibilities. I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with similar projects or any tips to make it smoother.
All in all, the world of smart lighting and audio integration is just so vast and exciting. I can’t wait to see what other innovations come down the pipeline. Happy tinkering everyone! ![]()
